We arrived in Canyonlands 30 minutes before sunrise armed with flashlights to hunt down Mesa Arch. We stumbled across it with plenty of time to spare. There is a small window of time when the sun is at the right height to light up the arch, so if you are late you miss it completely. The sun was hiding behind the clouds for the first light, which we were very disappointed about. Just when we were ready to give up, the sun showed itself, and we quickly got as many shots as we could before it retreated again.
