When I arrived in Koggala I was assaulted by a group of kids who were trying to get money from me in any way possible, for photos, gifts, sea shells, gambling, anything. After a few jokes and games we were best friends and they forgot about money. A few hours later when the sun was setting I started taking some pictures and a drunken fisherman came over trying to get me to pay for the photos. The kids quickly jumped in, telling him to leave me alone and even pushing him over. It was one of the funniest and nicest moments of my trip.
