Old Tamil on his way to Kataragama
add to cart
Every year, thousands of Tamil pilgrims (Hindu) walk down from the northern town of Jaffna to the southern town of Kataragama. The walk takes 45 days there and 45 days back. When we were in Arugam Bay we saw hundreds of these pilgrims streaming through the town; old and young. Upon arrival in Kataragama there is a massive festival with fire walking and shocking acts of masochism. Unfortunately the festival started on the day I was flying out. Next time I'll plan it better.
