I found Egypt to be hard work. Around every corner is another person with yet another boring story or tired tale to scam you. After a few days in places like Luxor and Cairo I guarantee you’ll hear them all. Behind the rough and obnoxious tourist front of Egypt lie many ordinary friendly people. Finding them can sometimes be overwhelming. It wasn’t until I stayed outside Cairo that I met some locals without ulterior motives, a refreshing change.
