Petra is big. I spent 3 days in Petra and averaged 9 hours a day of straight walking. Each day we walked in before sunrise and saw as much as we could before the heat would become unbearable. We would then find a cool place in the shade to eat and sleep. After resting we saw more sites, watched the sunset and returned in the dark. It was lots of work but worth it.
