Day of the Dead altars are often built with marigolds (flowers thought to attract souls to the offerings), and various offerings the departed enjoyed, such as foods, drinks, liquor, flowers, or just decoration. Walking through the candle lit grave yards you never know what you will stumble upon, from elaborate decorations to bands playing somber or happy music.
