Arenal Volcano has been constantly active since it first made its presence known 400 years ago. There is a danger of it repeating its 1968 performance, where it wiped out the entire town. We were made aware of this as we hiked to its base, where we could see the glowing red lava flowing down. It is considered one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world.
